Midway 22 March 2009

I'm midway through my four-week, 2009 trip and I've experienced it in entirely new way. I've managed to make friends and my comfort with the city, its transportation and its layout have allowed me to wander and travel most places I please. And my access to family-friends that live here and I Eat, I Shoot, I Post (an excellent Singapore food blog and message board) has allowed me to find and try local gastronomic gems I would never have found on my own.

I don't know what else to say and my mind has gone blank but I'll go ahead and say that I have this strange affection for Singapore and as I'm looking through the photos I've taken thus far, I miss it. And I haven't even left yet.

On a lighter note, I found a truly impressive burger in Singapore. A lot of people feel that the only good, western burger you can find is at a posh restaurant, attached to a posh price-tag. That said, I was able to do a little digging to find a reasonably priced, proper burger. It took a little finding but Smok'inn Frogz makes one of the best burgers in Singapore, for the price. I would go into the taste and whatnot but there are better blogs and better writers to get that sort of insight from. Let me just say that I went twice in one week and was satisfied each time I ate there. It's made in a small kitchen, with a staff of two or three, but it's made with heart and made damn well.
